Why is my Numéro de TVA required to use ShipStation?

SinceShipStation provides business-to-business (B2B) services, we must confirm we are working with registered businesses to be compliant with current legislation. The Numéro de TVA is the method we use to determine the business status of a company. This is why we require your n° TVA to use ShipStation.

What is a n° TVA?

The Numéro de TVA is used to identify businesses approved to charge VAT. You receive this number when you register as a business.

How to add Numéro de TVA to your Account

You can enter your Numéro de TVA from the Payments & Subscription page in Settings.

  1. Click the Add Numéro de TVA button.

  2. Enter your Numéro de TVA. Click Submit to finish.

Enter your n° TVA to avoid account suspension.

A notification to add your n° TVA will repeat upon login until you have done so.

The n° TVA field only accepts numbers. You do not need to enter dashes or country codes.

Your Numéro de TVA will display in the Numéro de TVA card.

Will ShipStation charge VAT on subscription and label purchases?

ShipStation does not charge VAT for subscriptions or ShipStation Carrier label purchases. To be more accurate, it is a 0% rate for these services. If you purchase labels through your own carrier accounts, it is up to that carrier whether they charge VAT for their label purchases.

What if my n° TVA is not accepted?

Ensure your Numéro de TVA is accurate and up to date. The best way to check your n° TVA is to check your local Numéro de TVA website. You can also utilize the VIES to look up your ID.

How do I edit/update n° TVA?

Send an email to our Support Team to edit or update your n° TVA.

What if I do not have a n° TVA?

ShipStation only offers its services to registered businesses. Accounts that fail to add a n° TVA will be suspended.
